Should we create pages for individual outfit pieces and completed outfits? The French Wiki has something like this and I was wondering if we should do something similar. If not, I'll create pages for the other equipment categories a la the Hairstyles one.
The numbers on the map aren't meant to show how much EXP you can get from that location. They're there to help people figure out which location is which. :") I used the word "points" because the thought to simply say "locations" or "numbers" didn't occure to me.
I was thinking about adding a new section or change to the Halloween/Christmas Event pages: a place where we could put information about completed outfits such as the number of pieces, number of color variations, total price, etc. It would be similar what the Easter and Valentines pages already have.
However, due to the shear number of outfits for those events, I'm wondering if adding a section to the main page would be overkill. Maybe we could have another subpage, like we already do for the individual pieces. Thoughts?
I have apicture of the ariel scale and want to put it on the wiki under day 8 but don't know how to could you help me I put it on the wiki once but It needs to be edited so it's under day 8 so i canceled changes if I put it there could you edit it to be in the right place?
I noticed you removed the skeleton witch teddy from the Halloween 2016 Event/Exploration Items page. I'm confused as to why. It was an exploration item; in fact, that was the only way to get that outfit. Did you have something else in mind or...? :")
Just because it's on the market doesn't mean it can be found by exploration. Take the Fairy Top, those have been on the market but cannot be found via exploration. Or, at least, not right now. The way they were on the market was likely because someone got it from a chest.
I knooooow, it's just so cute and pretty and the fact it's exclusive bums me out. :/ It would be too much of a bother to create a new account, especially when I've put a lot of time into the one I have know. Plus, there's no guarantee that I'll get into Absynthe on a second (or even third) try. :")
Yeah, what's up with that? I can't help but think there must be a bug of some kind. I mean, a guard winning two or three times in a row is lame, but not something to get worked up over. Five times though...?? And it seems as though Absynthe will win March too. At least Shadow won the first prize, poor Obsidian hasn't been able to catch a break. I still don't completely understand how the ranking system works in the first place. cx
Did you pre-register? I remember that I initially overlooked the site because I already had an MCL account (not to mention multiple other accounts across various sites), but the whole fantasy aspect was a big draw to me so I ended up pre-registering anyway. :)
Hey, Fern! It's little ol' me from the MCL wiki. Just thought I'd let you know that I've decided to contribute to this wiki as well. If there's anything you'd like to discuss with me, don't hesitate to stop by my talk page and leave me message. c:
You can't see it, but I'm blushing. ~^_^~ Thank you so much, I'm happy to hear it!
I was thinking, would you like me to transfer the LOM templates over to this wiki? It wouldn't take very long, I'd basically just be copying and pasting code and stuff. c:
One thing I'd like to ask is do you want to keep the green color that this wiki currently uses (which would be this) or the one the MCL wiki uses (which would be this)? The reason the shade of green over there is lighter is because it's easier for Rocky to see. I know it's a very small detail, but I'd figure I'd ask anyway. ^_^
Ahhh, thank you so much for that! I've created some image-centric categories already. Let me know if there are any specific kinds that you want. You can leaf through what I've made so far here.
I figured I might as well start now while there are a manageable number of images. There were over 3,500 images over on the MCL wiki when I first started categorizing them and it didn't help when there was an event or new episode. :"D God, that felt like it took forever. Not helping matters was the fact that there were many duplicates of the exact same image. I swear there was one picture that showed up like four times! *frustrated huff* //end ramblings
Hmm... Maybe Companion images instead of Images eggs? It looks good though! I added a category for overall event stuff, too.
3,500!? That's a ridiculous number, wow, how did you even do that???
Sadly there are always just too many duplicates. People just need to know naming formats, or they just don't get it?? I mean, I'm obsessed with formatting things correctly now but I used to be one of those people who didn't care-
Are you still slightly traumatized? Do you need a hug? :^)
Funny you should mention that, I've already made that one. xD We could create categories for each stage that a companion can take (egg, baby, adult), but I don't know if that would be overkill or what. Thoughts?
Slowly and with much patience. :"D Although, fairly early on, I did create a text doc that had all the code I'd need and in different groups so that way I could just copy and paste whichever license/category applied to any particular image. That did make the job a little easier. And there's still so much to do, such as renaming some images so they're up to the wiki rules, deleting unnecessary images, all that fun stuff. It's not just the formatting thing, it's that there is an option to rename or replace an image after you upload it. I'm not sure if both options available at every user level, but if not, nobody's stopping them from from contacting an admin to fix it. >_<
*laughs* Kind of. It was definitely a slog since I was the only doing it. Though, I'm more irritated than traumatized, truthfully. I won't say no to that hug. ;) Can you even believe that I considered doing the exact thing over on the Sailor Moon Wiki? And they have 15,987 images and counting! ... I'm just a glutton for punishment aren't I? xD
Thanks for listening to my ramblings, by the way. c:
(P.S. If you're wondering how I found out how many images were on the Sailor Moon Wiki, a full page contains 48 images... and that wiki has 334.)
It must be fate. o_O I don't currently think we need a category for each stage though, that seems a little much.
And that's the main thing that kept your sanity? That was really smart though. Hahaha deleting and renaming things is so fun. Neither are an option as a regular user, I just checked an image on the MCL Wiki just to make sure. I guess that people just don't understand?
*hugs* Why would you even think about doing that to yourself? You really are, aren't you! XD
Also, I saw you added a link for a food page on Poulpatata's page? I'd rather not have pages for food, or at least not right now, though they could be something to do later on.
Great minds think alike as they say. c: Alright, I'll keep what I've got. If that's the case, then you might want to delete the Images Eggs category then. I'm still working on categorizing images so don't worry about getting rid of it from pictures that already have it.
Yeah, pretty much. I'm so glad I thought of creating it when I did, you have no idea. xD Usually it takes until after I've done something before an idea like that pops into my head. Really? Well that doesn't make sense. Why would they (the creators of Wikia) make it exclusive to non-regular editors? *scratches head* Not knowing that it's an option in the first place certainly doesn't help. :"D
Your guess is as good as mine. I did actually attempt to start doing exactly that, but gave up after a few minutes. If they can't find what they want when they want it, that'll be their problem, not mine. cx
Ah, okay. Is there any particular reason (such as too little information)?
Yeah, I mean it's probably to prevent vandalism, but still. I definitely agree that it's not helpful to have people ask about renaming things if they don't know that's a feature.
Oh no, at least you came to your senses if nothing else. Are you admin or anything like that on the Sailor Moon wiki?
Well, yeah there's not too much information on them but also I wouldn't mind having them made later, but they're very low on potential things to do right now. Just currently I feel like it's not worth the time and there are far more worthwhile things to do.
Sorry if you wanted more of a straight answer, I'm terrible with those most of the time but I do try.
Semi-related, I also wish people would check first before uploading an image. I think I've seen several Corko or Liclion eggs by now. >_< Granted, no one wants to leaf through multiple pages just to see if an particular image has already been uploaded. Hopefully, once I've got all the images categorized, it'll be easier.
No, I'm not an admin, just a regular user. (I did try to categorize all of the templates, but I messed up on several of them, so the edits were reverted. Not that you care, I'm just in a sharing mood. c":)
It's alright, I'm not the best at explaining myself either. :) I was simply curious is all.
I've noticed that we've got a page for a companion that was available for an event held in 2015 (Valuret). Considering that this wiki is mainly about the English site, it doesn't make much sense to have pages about anything pre-September 2016 or anything that hasn't already been released on the English site.
There's also a page for find duplicated images, but I don't understand how it's supposed to work?? I'm sorry I'm not being much help in the categorizing, it's all I've been able to do for the last few days just to get online.
Valuret has a page because it was a companion shown on the site while preregistration was going on. I can see why it'd be confusing, but I think that since it was on the actual site, we should keep the page. At least for now if nothing else.
I already know about those pages, but thanks anyway. ^_^ The problem with those pages is that they only show up to 1,000 files/categories at a time and even if you do categorize/find a place for them, it won't show up until the cache has updated (which takes 24 hours since the last update, I believe). Plus, photos that already have categories that we don't really want to use anymore (such as that Images Eggs one) won't show up. So, it's helpful in the sense that it gives you a general idea. Sorry for the sudden explanation, just thought I'd share my thoughts. :")
What you do is input the exact file name that you want to search for. For example, if you want to find multiple file uploads of "Corko-Egg.png" then you input that entire name. However, from what I can tell, it only looks for the exact same file, so I dunno how useful it is. It's cool, I've been making progress and I'm mostly halfway done. I hope to get it finished before any other events start/episodes get released and at the pace I'm going at currently I should be able to achieve that. c:
Ah, I see. I think that was more of a teaser than any suggestion that you could actually get that particular companion. It is possible that it might become available later on, but my instinct says otherwise. *shrugs* Who knows, I'm not very good at guessing. xD
EDIT: I've finished categorizing every image!!! I mean, we could always add/make more categories if need be and I could've missed a few and if that's the case I'll get on that tomorrow but for now, I am dooooooneee. :D
I was thinking about making a page detailing the various categories we have and how they should be used. (It would be under the "Eldarya Wiki" namespace.) Think it's any good?
(I typed out a long reply to this and then it didn't send and I'm really not feeling up to typing out everything again so I'm just going to respond to the last two paragraphs this time, sorry about that-)
Whoo! That's awesome! *throws confetti* I'll take a look through the images and delete the duplicates :D
That sounds like a good idea. And now I'm reminded that I need to finish the manual of style or whatever you want to call it for this wiki (I've been working on it in Google Docs). Partly because it'd be nice if everyone could be on the same page about that kind of thing and partly so I feel a less bad about getting irritated and poor image naming.
I typed out a long reply to this and then it didn't send and I'm really not feeling up to typing out everything again so I'm just going to respond to the last two paragraphs this time, sorry about that-)
Edit: I saw you edited Becola's page? I'd honestly rather keep the format it's in right now along with the (Rarity) Companion categories due to it making it easier to sort.
(I've done that before. >_< There have been times where I edit a page for several minutes and it's all nice and neat as can be then I go to visual mode then back to source mode, only to find that the code has turned into a jumbled mess of nonsense that no one would want to comb through. And all because I messed up one little bit of code. At that point I'm just like "i cAN't bE boTHeeeerED" and simply exist the page that I was working on. Happens more often than I would like.)
It feels really good, let me tell ya. xD
Cool, I'll get to work on that then. ^_^ It would be handy, that's for sure; you'd simply be able to direct users to the manual without having to repeat yourself multiple times.
You didn't. But I suppose you began responding before I edited the message.
The reason I want to keep the format as it is is because it looks better and though the image next to Energy and Hatching could be changed to another item (such as the bait or food) I strongly prefer the current looks and setup of the pages.
I guess. :") To be honest, I don't think it looks that much better than what I changed it to. I'm not suggesting that my edit was superior, just that they looked about the same to me. However, if you want to keep the current format, then I won't touch it. ^_^
