The episode begins with Erika recounting what happened at the end of The Awakening. Erika makes herself known to Nevra, who appears cold and distant to her now. She opens her arms for a hug, but he doesn't hug her back. Nevra tells Erika that he's happy to see her alive and to see her back, but much time has passed since the White Sacrifice and that he has lost many people since then. The conversation ends, and even though Nevra says that he missed Erika, she's a little sad about this change of attitude.
The next day, Erika seeks out Huang Hua in the Council Room after Karuto indicates that she's needed there. Adalric was supposed to inform her about this, but has forgotten. Erika joins the others in the room; Feng Zifu, Jamon, Eweleïn, Nevra, Huang Hua, Chrome, and Huang Chu. Leiftan joins too.
Huang Hua explains to the Aengels that since their sacrifice into the Crystal, Eldarya has been in a much better state. The food is edible, corruption is gone, and there is peace among the people in the land; however, in recent months, there have been strange occurrences. There are now new trees, fruits, and animals that are similar to those that are on Earth. Nevra reveals that there is a building that has appeared in a land called Genkaku that matches Erika's description of her world from many years ago. It is also revealed by Feng Zifu that companions are attacking people, which is unusual for them. The island of Memoria from Origins has also seemingly disappeared.
Huang Hua invites Leiftan and Erika to join the Light Guard. They both refuse; Leiftan claims that he needs some time to be alone and reflect on his actions, while Erika states that she feels as though she does not deserve to be in the Light Guard. Instead, she wants to start from scratch.
The meeting is over, with Leiftan remaining with Huang Hua to talk. Erika can walk around HQ before returning to her room.
Three days have passed. Erika goes to the Council Room, where Huang Hua and Eweleïn inform her that they have a mission for her. Before that, Erika must be sorted in a Guard. Here, Erika can remain in the Guard she was sorted in from Origins, or she can attempt to redo the test and be put in a different Guard. After the test, if you are unhappy with the sorting, you can choose what Guard you'd like to be in.
The mission is revealed to Erika - there are strange noises in the forest, and it is believed that this links with the aggressive behaviour of the companions. Erika's partners for the mission are to be announced.
After leaving the Council Room, Erika goes to the kitchen, helping Karuto and grabbing a bite before meeting Jamon at the forge. Jamon has made a sword for Erika, which she is able to name. They then meet in the Music Garden to train. Karenn and Adalric are there; Karenn is helping Adalric train. When the training is over, Erika returns to her room. She passes by Mathieu, who is surrounded by admirers.
The next day, Erika meets the partners for her mission at the Central Pavilion. She will be accompanied by Koori, Mathieu, and Chrome. The four leave through the Grand Gates to the Forest and begin their mission.
There are strange things happening in the forest. The circle of mushrooms that Erika appeared in all those years ago is different, as are the surrounding trees. Everything seems to be dying out. Koori informs Erika that the change was sudden, as she had been in the Forest a week ago to gather herbs and everything had been fine then. Continuing the mission, the group discovered a wounded companion called a Seifaun. The injury is from a bullet, which has Erika and Mathieu worried. Erika explains why the wound is so dangerous, but she is attacked by an aggressive companion which bites her arm before she can draw her sword. Chrome turns into his werewolf form to scare the companion away. The others take Erika and the companion to Eweleïn in the Infirmary, who is already waiting. She gives Erika a potion, which she drinks before sleeping.
When she wakes up, she leaves the Seifaun recovering in the Infirmary and seeks out Huang Hua to report to her about the discovery of bullets from the mission. Before she can do this, she is met with others, and they go to the Dining Hall to eat. They talk, and Erika ponders about asking Leiftan to help her with her aengel powers, since she cannot use them anymore.
After having eaten, Erika meets Nevra, who is still cold and distant. They talk about his life in HQ, and Erika discovers that he's been going out with different women. Leiftan comes out from his room, and he and Nevra get into an argument about Leiftan's decision to take a step back from the Guard. Erika quells the situation, Nevra, leaves, and she asks Leiftan to help train her. Leiftan refuses, saying that no longer wants to get involved in the conflicts and fears that she will become what he is. She accepts his decision.
Erika returns to the infirmary, where she finds the Seifaun dying. Eweleïn asks Erika to go to the Alchemy Lab and get a Fortuna's Clover from Huang Chu. She returns to the infirmary with the item, which Eweleïn administers to the Seifaun. The companion seems to be recovering, and Eweleïn and Erika fall asleep. When Erika wakes up, the companion has settled into her lap, and she adopts him.This episode does not have any new outfits.
